Warren boy steps on hypodermic needle

WARREN

An 11-year-old Kenilworth Avenue Southeast boy had to be taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital Sunday afternoon after he stepped on a hypodermic needle in the yard just east of the Riverview Apartments, 700 Buckeye Street Northwest.

Roni Elix, 35, said the needle punctured her son’s foot while he was playing at about 4 p.m. Elix said she located the needle and a spoon with residue on it. The police department took the needle and logged it into evidence in case it is needed for testing, police said.

Police have said most hypodermic needles confiscated by Warren police in recent months are being used to inject heroin.
