Not dead, just out cold in the middle of the road
A man found in the middle of a South Side street by a newspaper carrier about 4:20 a.m. Sunday had a dose of heroin on him, police reports said.
Police were called to Warren Avenue and Volney Road for a possible corpse and found 42-year-old Jonathan Wilson in the middle of the street lying in a puddle of vomit and breathing raggedly. An ambulance was called and when Wilson was searched before he was placed inside, an officer found an individual dose of heroin in a pack of cigarettes he was carrying.
He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center with a police hold when he was released to be taken to the Mahoning County jail for the charge of possession of heroin, reports said.
