A New Wilmington man who died in a lawn-mower accident Friday has been identified by the Lawrence County coroner as 34-year-old Justin Callahan, according to The Vindicator’s news partner 21 WFMJ-TV.
Callahan was a New Wilmington firefighter since 2011. He also was a commercial landscaping employee, according to WFMJ.
Callahan was cutting grass at 6 p.m. Friday on Banberry Lane in Neshannock Township when he became pinned under the mower against a fence, according to WFMJ.
The coroner has ruled the death an accident due to blunt-force trauma and compression to the chest.
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research.
In the Mahoning Valley, walks are at two locations.
The Warren Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place Sept. 28 at Perkins Park, and the Boardman/Youngstown Walk to End Alzheimer’s is set for Oct. 12 in Boardman Park. For both walks, check-in is at 8:30 a.m., and the opening ceremony is at 9:30 a.m. To register and form a team, visit www. alz.org.
Community Legal Aid is seeking volunteers for its Volunteer Advocacy Legal Unit program in Mahoning County. The volunteers help domestic-violence victims through the court process of obtaining civil-protection orders.

The Big Reach Center of Hope, 11767 Lisbon Road, is conducting a shoe- collection drive this month to raise funds for its outreach efforts while also benefiting micro-enterprise ventures in developing nations and keeping old shoes out of local landfills.
Individuals can help by donating their shoes to the Big Reach Center of Hope from 8 a.m. to noon Sundays; 9 a.m., to 3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays, or by appointment. Call 330-533-3278, ext. 502.
