Canfield mom charged child endangering, OVI

Published: Thu, October 31, 2013 @ 12:00 a.m.

Staff report

CANFIELD

A pretrial is set for 4 p.m. Nov. 12 in Mahoning County Area Court here for a 31-year-old Boardman woman who faces charges of operating a vehicle impaired and endangering children.

Police said Jennifer Theisler of Turnberry Drive is accused of driving while intoxicated and placing her children in danger.

Police were called to Canfield Middle School at 10:49 on Oct. 24 a.m. to respond to a report of an unruly child.

Upon arrival, police spoke with Theisler who said her children were running late for school and she was dropping them off. Her 12-year-old daughter then became angry and jumped out of the car, according to a police report.

Theisler and her daughter went to speak to the school guidance counselor, and her 18-year-old son stayed in the car. While in the school, police noticed the smell of alcohol on Theisler.

Theisler told police she had three glasses of wine the night before. She agreed to take a field-sobriety test, and police noticed multiple errors in how she responded.

A breath test resulted in a .160 reading. The legal limit in Ohio is .08. Theisler was then taken into custody. She pleaded not guilty to the charges last week.

The paper should never have printed the woman's name or address because of the daughter especially in this day and age with social media and the like.

Canfield!? This can't possibly happen in Canfield!!!
This is an absolute tragedy and there should be outrage! What if she hit someone's BMW in Canfield?

I know Jennifer very well and she is a wonderful mother and great person. She is always willing to help anyone in need. She made a mistake but didn't realize alcohol would still be in her system at that time. She never drives her daughter around if she had a drink. I want to know why the article has been published two days in a row. I think it was wrong publishing her whole name and address as this is having an affect on her daughter as kids can be very mean and hold this against the daughter. Canfield Schools is behind all of this as they have a vendetta out for Jennifer and have been too involved in the daughters life. As for the 18 year old, it is not her biological son. It is a boy that she started taking care of when he was 5 and he considers her his mother. She has helped him to become a better person as his father threw him away. One mistake and a person should not be chastised. The Vindicator should be ashamed of themselves for publishing it twice and giving out her personal information. I am sure they have more important things to report.

Clearly the people that come on here to just state your opinion have nothing better to do with their lives other than sit at home and collect unemployment and blow it on drugs, that's the majority of people on this post. the other few are just curious news goers, but its typical canfield area people to be sticking the stuck up noses up other peoples business. The vindicator should be sued and prosecuted for the full name, and address of the lady who did this. If the lady was worried about getting her kids to school and they were late obviously she isn't close to being a bad person at all. So why are you people so fast to jump to conclusions about someone you probably don't know? Grow up and get a job or a life you group of losers. Why would the lady call the cops on herself if she would have known she was intoxicated? end of rant

Perhaps this lady should've put her children first before her hard partying lifestyle. She must have had one heck of a night if she was still drunk at that hour of the morning!
