Canfield mom charged child endangering, OVI

Staff report

A pretrial is set for 4 p.m. Nov. 12 in Mahoning County Area Court here for a 31-year-old Boardman woman who faces charges of operating a vehicle impaired and endangering children.

Police said Jennifer Theisler of Turnberry Drive is accused of driving while intoxicated and placing her children in danger.

Police were called to Canfield Middle School at 10:49 on Oct. 24 a.m. to respond to a report of an unruly child.

Upon arrival, police spoke with Theisler who said her children were running late for school and she was dropping them off. Her 12-year-old daughter then became angry and jumped out of the car, according to a police report.

Theisler and her daughter went to speak to the school guidance counselor, and her 18-year-old son stayed in the car. While in the school, police noticed the smell of alcohol on Theisler.

Theisler told police she had three glasses of wine the night before. She agreed to take a field-sobriety test, and police noticed multiple errors in how she responded.

A breath test resulted in a .160 reading. The legal limit in Ohio is .08. Theisler was then taken into custody. She pleaded not guilty to the charges last week.
