BOARDMAN

Boardman police arrested a Youngstown couple in connection with an aggravated robbery at the Splash and Shine Bath car wash on Midlothian Boulevard.

Mark Moody, 25, of Zedacker Street was arrested on an aggravated burglary charge, a first-degree felony offense.

His girlfriend, Gracie Rollins, 27, also of Zedacker Street, was arrested and charged with obstructing justice, a third-degree felony, and obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday, an Austintown man was at the car wash when a man approached him with a gun and attempted to steal his money, according to a police report.

Before the incident occurred, the victim was approached by Moody at Dollar General on Midlothian Boulevard. As the victim took out his wallet to pay for his merchandise he noticed Moody paying more attention to him, he told police.

The victim left the store to go to the car wash and saw Moody get into a Dodge Durango with another man.

As he was drying his car, a man came up to him with a gun in hand. The victim led the suspect to where his money was in his car, and was able to grab the gun from the suspect’s hand.

The suspect head-butted the victim several times to get the gun back, but failed. The suspect ran back into the car that the victim saw Moody get into.

Police later learned the gun was listed as stolen from Pennsylvania.

A witness told police he saw the victim struggling with the suspect over the gun, and he attempted to run after the suspect after he got away.

Police obtained video surveillance from the car wash and Dollar General. Moody was observed with the victim in Dollar General, and the police saw the car drive into the car wash and then pull away after a man got out.

The Durango in the video belonged to Rollins. Police went to Rollins’ residence and she stated she was involved in the “stick-up” but her story was inconsistent.

Both Moody and Rollins are in Mahoning County jail until their court dates.
