23 catalytic converters stolen in Warren

Published: Sat, October 19, 2013 @ 5:30 a.m.

WARREN

The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of 23 catalytic converters valued at about $20,000 from vehicles kept at a storage area used by county agencies at 605 Panther Drive next to Warren G. Harding High School.

The area also is used by the county’s vehicle maintenance department.

An investigator with the county fire investigative unit first discovered the theft of a catalytic converter on a vehicle the unit stores at the site. Further investigation Oct. 12 revealed the theft of 22 others.

Twelve of the catalytic converters were on Ford buses formerly used by the county’s Office of Elderly Affairs. Other vehicles were pickup trucks and vans.

Be sure to investigate and arrest any scrap dealers who are accepting these stolen catalytic converters. If no one is buying them, then none will be stolen. Give me a beak, who really walks into a scrap dealer with this kind of stuff for sale?

especially ones that are in serviceable condition. If it ain't blown out, go after buyer and seller. this happened at an auto repair near where I work (south yo./bdman).
