Federal workers back to work after 16-day shutdown

WASHINGTON (AP) - Barriers went down at federal memorials and National Park Service sites, and thousands of furloughed federal workers returned to work across the country today after 16 days off the job due to the partial government shutdown. Among the sites reopening were Gettysburg National Park in Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Capitol visitors center. Hundreds of others across the country were ready to follow suit throughout today.

Yes, and they'll get back pay for this extended vacation.

What a racket. Where do I sign up?

On second thought, I don't have the proper attitude to perpetrate and perpetuate these indiscretions against my fellow tax payers.

Joe,
BUT, our 16 days of national suffering are now behind us! Don't you think paying the furloughed workers is a small compensation for the gratitude that we now feel since the nightmare is now over!?!? Why, when I woke up this morning, the sun was brighter, my toast was perfect, my car got better mileage and the unicorn farts smelled heavenly!

I knew I should have gotten a job with ODOT!

Yep. Everybody back to work now, vacation is over....oh...except Congress. They'll need to take some time away from these exhausting budget negotiations. A little break from the drama then it will be time for the holidays, maybe the 1st of the year would be good to start negotiations. See you all at the next 11th hour!

Even though Americans didn't support the shut down, they oppose Obamacare and actually, this may be a good thing. It will give Americans time to see how Obamacare affects them before the next budget talks.
