Coroner identifies homicide victimPublished: 10/17/13 @ 12:00
The Mahoning County Coroner’s office said Wednesday the woman who was found dead just off of West Avenue near Mahoning Avenue is a 30-year-old Homeworth, Ohio, woman.
The coroner’s office said Collena Lynne Carpenter, 30, died of multiple stab wounds. She was found about 8 a.m. Monday by an officer on patrol.
Her death is the 13th homicide in Youngstown in 2013.
Police would not say much about her case other than to say they still are investigating.
Court records show Carpenter has a record of criminal and traffic offenses dating back to 2005. She was arrested Sept. 28 at the Walmart in Boardman for stealing $10 worth of ant killer and other merchandise. She was listed as also having a New York Avenue address in Youngstown, records show.
Mahoning County Common Pleas Court records show she pleaded guilty Friday to charges of illegal possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs and obstructing official business.
In July, Carpenter was arrested at an apartment on South Salem Road in North Jackson after police and U.S. marshals found equipment that could be used to make methamphetamine. Marshals were at the apartment looking for a man who was wanted on a warrant as well as burglary charges by the Jackson Police Department.
