Veteran to speak
Marine Corps Sgt. Tod Schuller, a 2005 Cardinal Mooney High School graduate and Afghanistan War veteran, will be the main speaker at a Veterans Day assembly at Mooney at 2 p.m. Nov. 11.

Third annual event planned at park
NEW CASTLE, PA.
Lawrence County’s third annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down and Tribute to 9/11 is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Cascade Park, East Washington Street.
Sponsored by the Lawrence County Stand Down Committee and Veterans Affairs Butler Medical Center, the stand down is an opportunity for veterans to receive counseling through the Erie, Pa., Veterans Center provided by the Primary Health Network.
There also will be food, clothing, medical care and supplies for the county’s homeless veterans; guest speakers and entertainment; and a tribute to those lost on 9/11, said Gary A. Zarilla, veterans employment representative with the Bureau of Workforce Development, Department of Labor & Industry.

Francis Fontes was recently elected commander of American F.D.R. Post 560.

ROTC training course
Cadet Molly L. Kohler graduated from the four-week Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Leader’s Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky.
Kohler, a 2011 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and a student at the University of Akron, is the daughter of David Kohler of Youngstown and Paula Kohler of Canfield.
