Little Colts claim victory




The Austintown Colts traveled to Hickory to take on the Hornets this past weekend.

The 100 pound squad started off the day with a shutout of 38-0 against the Little Hornets. The offense took control over the ball early in the game, scoring on their first offensive drive. The Colts defense played a stellar game holding the Little Hornets scoreless.

The Colts finished out their regular season with a record of 4-3, and will take on the Little Hornets again in the first round of playoffs Oct. 13.

The Colts 120 pound team took the title of 120 pound Division Co-Champions after its 36-6 win over the Hickory Little Hornets. Standouts Devin Winford, KyRee Long, Shakir Pekins and Donovan Oliver led the Colts offense while Colin Roberts, Brian Long and Michael Hileman kept the Hornets to only one touchdown.

The Colts finished in a three-way tie for first place to end the regular season. The 120 pound squad will take on the Struthers Litttle Wildcats in the first round of playoffs Oct. 13 at Fitch High School.

The 140 pound squad of the Austintown Colts improved their regular season standing to 5-2 after beating the Hornets 30-0. The Colts offense line led the way for touchdowns by Lorenzo Russo, AJ Winterburn, and Rod’dell Bebbs while the defensive, including Jacob Granger, Dakota Edwards and Bryce Davis kept the Little Hornets scoreless.

The Colts will travel to Struthers High Shool for the first round of playoffs to take on the Wildcats.
