BOARDMAN — Three people were sent to the hospital after an accident this morning on U.S. Route 224 and Pheasant Drive.

The driver and passenger of one vehicle are reported to have serious injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

The driver will be cited with failure to yield, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The identities and ages of all involved are still unknown.

Maybe they should alter the traffic signal phase at this intersection. For eastbound traffic on 224, when it starts from a red light at Tippecanoe Rd., traffic just reaches the speed limit and this signal at Pheasant goes red. It encourages people to try to beat this red light.
