McKinley Memorial Library will sponsor a cemetery walk from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Historian Wendell Lauth will lead visitors on a walking tour of grave sites at the Niles Union Cemetery, where they will learn about some of the prominent citizens who once lived in Niles.
Included are the grave sites of President William McKinley’s sister, Abigail; Harry Stevens; the Harris Bros; Pioneer families; and a famous murderer who committed his crime on Christmas Eve in the late 1800s.
Meet at the entrance to the Niles Cemetery at the corner of Niles-Cortland Road and Vienna Avenue. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and take a flashlight.
