Boardman police seek driver of stolen vehicle

Boardman police are searching for a suspect who fled from police in a stolen vehicle.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle just before 1 a.m. Thursday after discovering it was registered as stolen by the Youngstown Police Department.

The vehicle was pulled over in a driveway on Woodrow Avenue.

As officers approached, the driver drove off behind the residence and struck a chain-link fence.

The vehicle drove around the house toward Woodrow Avenue. An officer was almost hit by the vehicle as it came around the house.

An officer followed the vehicle as it went down Woodrow again, but was stopped by a juvenile male who jumped from the car. The juvenile told police who the driver was and he told the driver to stop fleeing from police. The juvenile did not know the vehicle was stolen. The driver told him it was a rented vehicle.

The stolen Dodge Durango was eventually found after a crash in the woods on Wildwood Drive.

Police attempted to track down the driver of the stolen vehicle, but were unable to find him.
