Man arrested in severe beating of girlfriend

Police arrested a man at his mother’s North Side home about 2 a.m. today, accused of severely beating his estranged girlfriend.

Kevin Theodore, 29, is expected to be arraigned in Youngstown Municipal Court today on the charges of felonious assault, violation of a protection order and a warrant.

Police were called to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where the victim told them Theodore visited her at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at her home in the 3500 block of Southern Boulevard and beat her during an argument.

The victim said she was unconscious for a brief period and when she woke up Theodore threatened to kill her if she called police.

She told police she was afraid to call them but family members took her to the hospital and talked her into filing charges, reports said. Reports said the victim had internal injuries, a possible concussion and a severely broken nose.

Theodore was found sleeping at his mother’s house on Carlotta Avenue. A records check revealed his mother has a protection order against him banning him from her house, so the protection order charge was added.
