FOOD SALES AND DINNERS

TODAY

Boar’s Head Ladies of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will serve a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the church. The meal consists of chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, bread and butter, pie and a beverage. Cost is $7. No reservations are necessary. THURSDAY

VFW Donald Lockett Post 6488, 2065 Coitsville-Hubbard Road, Youngstown, will have wings on special for $4.50 from 8 to 12 p.m.

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, will serve a drive through chicken dinner from 4 p.m. until sold out. The cost is $7, and the menu comprises stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and brownie.

FRIDAY

Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $5 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-ins.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday or 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be available at 11 a.m.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato with cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Cost is $6 per dozen. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. The cost is $6 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-in orders are welcome. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

SATURDAY

First United Methodist Church of Girard, 22 N. Market St., will serve its annual fall creamed chicken and biscuit dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. It will include green beans and dessert. The dinners are $8 and are carryout only.

Hartford United Methodist Church, 6846 state Route 305, will host a roast beef or turkey dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The menu comprises roast beef or turkey, dressing, potatoes, vegetable, bread, dessert and beverage. Tickets are $8 for adults and $3.50 for children 6 to 12. Takeouts will be available.

New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Niles, is sponsoring a roast beef dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with a salad and dessert bar. The cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children 5 to 12. There also will be a bake sale.

Southington United Methodist Church, Routes 305 and 534, will host its annual Harvest Home dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The menu comprises ham, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, squash, green beans, applesauce and homemade desserts. Tickets are $8.50 for adults, $4 for children 4 to 10 and free for those 3 and under. Carryouts will be available. Call the church at 330-898-2156 for pickups.

St. Mary Church, 3504 state Route 46, Mineral Ridge, will host a pancake, French toast, sausage and egg breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meals are $6 for adults, $4 for children 5 to 11 and free for those 4 and under.

Vienna United Methodist Church, 4265 Warren-Sharon Road, is sponsoring a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will include mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, coleslaw, applesauce, bread and butter, beverage and homemade dessert. Takeouts will be available. Adult tickets will cost $9, and children 5 to 12 will pay $4.

SUNDAY

Jackson Township Fire Department Auxiliary is sponsoring a pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jackson Township Administration Building, 10613 Mahoning Ave., North Jackson. Adults cost $5 and children 5 to 12 cost $2.50. There will be a basket auction.

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, will resume its monthly Sauce and Songs program. Spaghetti dinners will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the church social hall. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 8 and under. The menu includes salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Carryouts are available, and containers will be provided. The concert series will begin at 2 p.m. and include a performance by Nanette Kaplan Solomon, acclaimed pianist and professor of music at Slippery Rock University. The concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be welcome. For information call the church office at 330-743-1109.

VFW Post 2799 will serve a homestyle breakfast sponsored by the ladies auxiliary from 8 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. The menu consists of eggs, hash browns, sausage or ham, pancakes or freedom toast, toast and coffee or tea.

Vincent United Methodist Church, 20 Walnut St., Jackson Center, Pa., will serve a stuffed pork chop dinner at 12:30 p.m. until sold out. It will include potatoes, vegetable, applesauce, dessert and beverage. Adults tickets are $8, and children under 12 can eat for $4.

Youngstown American Hungarian Club, 2219 Donald Ave., will host a chicken paprikash dinner from 1 to 3 p.m. Dinners are $8; baked goods will be available for purchase. For takeouts provide your own container and save $1.25. Reservations will be taken through Thursday by calling 330-792-2620.

TAKING ORDERS

St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, is taking orders for stuffed cabbage. Cost is $15 per dozen. To order call 330-792-1578. Pickup is Oct. 12.

UPCOMING

Berlin Ellsworth Ruritans will serve a Swiss steak supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Western Reserve High School, state Route 224, Berlin Center. The cost of the dinner is $10 in advance and $11 at the door. For children 4 to 10 the cost is $5, and for those 3 and under meals are free. Tickets can be purchased from any Ruritan member, at Denny’s Auto Supply, 6999 S. Pricetown Road, Berlin Center or by calling 330-547-4027. The family style all-you-can-eat, dinner includes mashed potatoes, corn, applesauce, roll and dessert. There also will be a homemade baking contest before the dinner. Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman, is planning its annual International Buffet on Oct. 19. There will be seatings at 4 and 6 p.m. The cost will be $15 for adults and $6 for children 6 to 12; those under 6 eat free. The dinner includes food and desserts from Germany, Italy, Slovakia and Sweden. No tickets will be sold at the door, and there are no carryouts. Order tickets by calling the church office at 330-758-5745 or 330-758-9309. Reservation deadline is Oct. 13.
