Flu vaccines Friday at Poland Township building
The Mahoning County District Board of Health is offering flu shots from noon to 4 p.m. Friday at Poland Township Administration Building, 3339 Dobbin Road.
Most private insurances and Medicare and Medicaid are accepted. Without insurance, the quadrivalent, the nasal spray or the trivalent intradermal flu vaccine cost is $30. High dose trivalent flu vaccine, with four times greater flu virus fighting capability than the traditional vaccine, is available and recommended for people 65 and over. The cost is $50. No appointment is necessary.
For ages 6 months through 64, the quadrivalent vaccine, which contains four virus strains, is recommended. Before this year, the flu vaccine contained only three influenza virus strains, called a trivalent vaccine. All vaccines are preservative-free.
