It wasn’t just another day at school for students in Cindy Hritz’s class Oct. 30. They came to school at the Early Childhood Learning Center at St. Luke’s dressed in Halloween costumes and celebrated the holiday a day early with a party.
“It’s pizza party day,” said Hritz.
The event included pizza for lunch and a variety of activities. The children decorated cupcakes, played pin the hat on the witch, sang Halloween songs and went through a haunted house. They also paraded through the school. Parents and grandparents came to school, too, to help out with the event.
A highlight was a candy-filled pi ±ata. Cheers filled the classroom when Hritz announced it was time to head outside and try cracking open the ghost-shaped pi ±ata hanging from a tree. It didn’t take long to create a hole in it, and after several more children took a whack, candy spilled to the ground. The students ran to collect as much as they could.
There were other treats, as well. Gregory Faunda shared mummy-shaped lollipops with his classmates. Ava Weeks said hers was “yummy.”
The class at the Early Childhood Learning Center at St. Luke’s on South Avenue is an all-day, three times a week, pre-kindergarten program. To learn more, visit lumenchristieclc.com or call 330-782-4060.
