A Campbell Memorial High School teacher who had a gun in his car on school property was to appear in Campbell Municipal Court this morning.
Jason McCray, 36, is charged with illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon on school property.
McCray was stopped Nov. 8 for driving 34 mph in a school zone. During the stop, he told the officer he had the gun in his car.
Though he had a permit for the gun, he broke state law by having it in his car near a school. He had it locked in his car in the school parking lot for eight hours, said Campbell Police Chief Drew Rauzan.
McCray told police he had the gun in his car while on vacation.
