2013 GREEN ENERGY CHALLENGE YSU team wins NECA event’s poster competition

Youngstown State University students beat out teams from 15 other universities and won the poster portion of the 2013 Green Energy Challenge at the National Electrical Contractors Association Convention in Washington, D.C., earlier this year.

The YSU team, which bested teams from around the nation including Penn State and Purdue universities, was represented by David Wright, Nick Gealy, Kaylin Celedonia, Bob Page and Ethan Parks. The team’s adviser is Ted Bosela, YSU professor of engineering technology.

“We’ve certainly enjoyed our share of success at this national competition, and it’s reflective of the classroom instruction and fieldwork perspective we receive from the university and industry partners that work with us,” said Parks, a member of YSU’s student NECA team.

The poster competition involves creating a visual depiction of the team’s proposal for the annual Green Energy Challenge, which this year solicited students’ ideas for improving the energy efficiency of parking structures on their respective campuses. The YSU team developed a program for the M-1 parking deck on Wick Avenue, and the university is looking at implementing some of the team’s ideas.

Posters were judged by members of the ELECTRI International Council.

The YSU team received funding from the Mahoning Valley NECA chapter and mentoring support from NECA-IBEW Electricians member contractor Joe Dickey Electric.

It’s the second-consecutive year that YSU won acclaim at the Green Energy Challenge. The 2012 YSU team won the proposal component of the Challenge, beating teams from Georgia Institute of Technology, Iowa State University and the University of Washington.

HYDRO-ELECTRENERGY is an apparatus that can generate an ample supply of electricity continuously under our command. Regardless of time in a day or the climate conditions in a given location. This apparatus can generate electricity by itself at no running costs because it does not need any combustible fuel to feed in. It can harness the kinetic energy of the moving air caused by the interactions between water and air in our atmosphere. These interactions are driven by the gravity and buoyancy.
This apparatus is prominent over any other "green energy" methods because it does not have pros and cons to discuss about. It will generate free electricity wherever an energy is needed around the clock since it is propelled by the most powerful and reliable forces. Thus, we have this apparatus under our command to provide the energy whenever and wherever we need. That is why other "green energy" methods can not call themselves "commandable green energy" like this one. We can not only conserve the elements in our surroundings but also can secure the certainty of our later generations. Finally, we can extricate ourselves out of the "save energy" notion.
It will take some efforts for this to happen. HYDRO-ELECTRENERGY is a "green energy" project that just emerges on horizon. It needs the supports. So go to the website http://hydro-electrenergy.com, investigate this system and participate in. This is a non-profit ideal that with a small effort from the people, the apparatus will be up and running. When that happens, everybody benefits from it. Let's make this project the project of the people, by the people and benefits the people.
