YOUNGSTOWN

The man who police believe killed a Boardman man and shot his brother at their family’s car-detailing shop on the South Side could be arrested as early as today, Chief Rod Foley said.

“We know where the guy is, and we know who he is,” Foley said Saturday. “We’re building a case and discussing final matters with the prosecutor. When that’s ready, we’ll get warrants.”

Elliott Stewart, 25, of Maywood Drive in Boardman was gunned down about 5:30 p.m. Friday outside Breeze Car Waxing at 3628 Southern Blvd., police said. He was shot in the chest, police said.

His brother, Derrick, 26, of Clearmont Drive in Youngstown, was shot in the hip and treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center. He was in stable condition Saturday.

The man who police say shot the brothers was across the street when Derrick Stewart asked two women arguing outside the family business to leave.

Derrick told the suspect to leave also, which made the latter angry and caused him to reach toward his side as if he had a gun, police said.

Derrick Stewart said he and the suspect talked it out, and the suspect got back into his car and began to pull away, according to police.

About that time, Elliott Stewart pulled up in his car, and the suspect started shooting at him and his brother. The suspect fled the scene after shooting the brothers.

The brothers went to the hospital in a car, and the suspect drove away while still shooting before police arrived at the scene of the crime.

Great Job Vindy!!! You might as well just call the scumbag and tell him to skip town.

You're right. Keep it under your hat then go in there and snatch the scumbag. Like I said before, for every arrested lowlife there are a thousand more like them waiting in the wings. So sad to see what Youngstown has become. No chief of police or mayor can stop this rolling snowball from getting bigger and bigger. Bad parenting and apathy are a good part of what is going on. So sad.

This town and this Vindicator is unbelievable! Print in the paper that the cops know who you are and where you are. So,does the Vindicator think this guy is just going to stay where he is and wait to be arrested! Let's hope the guy doesn't have the $1.50 to buy today's paper or that he can't read!

I know that the Vindy does some dumb stuff but If Foley made the statement that the Vindy printed here then Foley is the dimwit.

Stranger things have happened, but this story is near the top of the list...hopefully an arrest is made.

Gee I think it's time for another nifty name crime fighting plan Foley, your good at that! With the remaining bulk of Thugstown's population, your plans of asking the cockroaches to stop it just does not seem to work. Go to Canfield or Poland and learn a lesson. I'm sure even Foley slows down in these places. WHY? Because the chance of being pulled over is high, which cockroaches don't like!! They don't let cars park on both sides of the road with "No Parking" signs lining the road! They tow you!! The art of maintaining dicipline and cockroach repelent. Like it or not it works!! Yep something so simple as this works but it takes administrators who want to do the job . Just sayin
