Boardman Sparkle Market, 6315 Market St., a family-owned and operated neighborhood grocery store here since 1946, will close Nov. 23.
No signs announcing the closing were posted at the store’s door, and no closing announcement appeared on its website Wednesday.
Arriving customers learned the news Wednesday evening by word of mouth.
The locally owned store’s website says it’s open seven days a week, featuring a deli and hot food section with homemade sausage and hot foods prepared daily and a coffee bar with premium coffees.
Harry Anzevino, store owner, could not be reached for comment Wednesday evening. Store employees declined on-the-record interviews and deferred comment to Anzevino.
The store at Market Street and Woodrow Avenue is one of 16 Sparkle Markets in northeast Ohio. Nearby Sparkle Markets operate on South Avenue and Western Reserve Road.
