Where veterans can get free meals, special deals
FREE MEALS FOR VETS
Several area restaurants are offering free meals for veterans and military service members Monday for Veterans Day.
Panera Bread bakery-cafes: Veterans and military service members can receive a free You-Pick-Two, a combo meal including a cup of soup, half-sandwich or half-salad, at any Mahoning Valley location by wearing their uniform or showing their military ID or discharge papers. Offering a free $9.99 entree to veterans and military personnel when they show their uniforms or military ID. Participating Mahoning Valley locations in Boardman and Niles. O’Charley’s offers a year-round 10 percent discount for veterans and military service members.
Free all-you-can-eat hotcakes for veterans and active military personnel at its restaurants. Proof of service is required, which can be a valid military ID; current leave and earnings statement; wearing a uniform; or showing a veterans organization membership card, such as the American Legion or VFW. Local participating locations include Austintown, Youngstown, Canfield, Niles, Hermitage, Pa., New Castle, Pa., and Salem.
Ponderosa restaurants, including a local Warren location, will have military appreciation day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Veterans should bring a military ID to receive a free buffet dinner or lunch. Special prices will also be available for friends and family who attend, $5.99 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and $8.99 from 4 to 9 p.m.
Friendly’s Ice Cream
Friendly’s Ice Cream will offer a free breakfast to veterans and active military on Veterans Day. Guests who show military ID or honorable discharge card will receive a complimentary Big-Two-Do breakfast and coffee. The Big-Two-Do allows guests to choose two slices of French toast, two buttermilk pancakes or two slices of toast; two strips of bacon or two sausage links and two made-to-order farm fresh eggs. The local Poland location will participate.
Denny’s restaurants nationwide will offer free all-you-can-eat pancakes from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. to all active, inactive and retired military personnel with valid ID. Maple syrup and whipped butter are included. Select locations nationwide offer a 10 percent military discount year-round for diners with proof of service. Local locations in Austintown, Boardman, Youngstown, Hubbard, Hermitage, Pa., and YSU campus will participate.
Outback Steakhouse will offer a free “Bloomin’ Onion” and beverage to military personnel and veterans. Must have valid ID. The company will provide 10 percent off meals for military personnel and veterans from Tuesday through Dec. 31. The Niles and Boardman locations will participate.
Until midnight Monday to midnight Nov. 12, veterans can get a free 6-inch turkey sub and 20-ounce fountain drink. All Sheetz locations will participate; locally, there are locations in Niles, Austintown, Warren, Boardman and Girard.
Texas Roadhouse in Niles will offer a free special veterans lunch menu. The meal will include a beverage and sides.
Veterans and active-duty military service members are welcome to enjoy a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The local Boardman location will participate.
Travel Centers of America
CDL drivers who are military veterans are invited to eat free at full-service restaurants, with a proof of service or valid ID. The offer will apply to the veteran only. The Travel Center in Austintown will participate.
Applebee’s will offer a free “Thank You Meal” menu for veterans and active-duty military. A valid veteran’s form of ID or uniform is required. Niles, Boardman and Hermitage, Pa., will participate.
Veterans and active-duty military receive a free meal from a special Veterans Day menu at Chili’s. Proof of military service is required. Chili’s in Boardman will participate.
Golden Corral will offer a free Veterans Day buffet and beverage to any veteran who has served in the United States military or is a current active-duty service member. All Golden Corral locations will participate; locally, visit Boardman or Hermitage, Pa. No ID is required to get the free meal.
Hoss’s Family Steak and Sea House will offer free meals from a select menu from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for veterans and active-duty military. The Grove City, Pa., location will participate.
A free appetizer will be offered from Monday through Thursday for veterans and current service members. The complimentary appetizer can be ordered from a list of ten options. The Boardman location will participate.
Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt
Veterans and active-duty military personnel will receive a free 6-ounce frozen yogurt. A valid ID or uniform is required. The Boardman location will participate.
Olive Garden will offer a free meal from a special menu for veterans and active duty military. Throughout November, current military service members and their families will receive a 10 percent discount in honor of Military Appreciation Month. The Boardman and Niles locations will participate.
