Greeter at Sharon Regional hospital in critical condition after stabbing
A greeter for Sharon Regional Health System was stabbed in the neck by a patient who was discharged from the emergency room Sunday afternoon.
Linda Clark of Hubbard was stabbed while at work in the emergency department at 2:23 p.m. Sunday.
Police arrested Justin Michael Delfratte, 30, of Sharpsville in the stabbing and charged him with attempted criminal homicide.
The stabbing was an isolated incident, and the suspect was apprehended by security while Clark was treated by emergency department staff, according to a statement released by the health system.
She had surgery Sunday night and was listed in critical condition.
Extra security was placed but the hospital remained fully operational, according to the statement.
Police say Delfratte was discharged from the emergency room after he was refused narcotics medication. After he was offered non-narcotic medications, he became upset and paced back and fourth before he stabbed Clark.
He was arraigned Sunday evening.
