Submit services for Thanksgiving

Information on special services for Thanksgiving will be published Nov. 23 on the Religion page. Send complete church name, street address and city, time and date of service.

Prayer breakfast

Mahoning Valley Association of Churches plans the 28th annual Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 26 at Mahoning Country Club, 710 Liberty Road.

The interfaith event will feature guest speaker Bonnie Burdman, director of Jewish Community Relations Council of Youngstown Area Jewish Federation. Her topic is “Welcoming the Stranger: We Are All the Other.”

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Mother Teresa’s “Prescription for Happiness and Peace in Service” will be presented at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St.

Dr. Paul Wright, cardiologist, author, teacher and humanitarian, will share 10 spiritual attitudes learned from serving the poor with Mother Teresa. The program is free.

Celebration set

YOUNGSTOWN

Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 1232 Hill St., will celebrate the fourth anniversary of Pastor Samuel G. Holmes Jr. at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Speaker will be Pastor Dion Holmes of Christian Love Missionary Baptist Church.

Guests will include Pastor James Holmes and his congregation from St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church. The Holmes are brothers.

Society chapter

WARREN

The Society of St. John Chrysostom, Youngstown Warren Chapter, will present “The Copts of Egypt Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary and St. John the Beloved Convent, 8640 Squires Lane.

Speaker will be the Rev. Mauritius El-Anba Bishoy, who serves the monastery. He is originally from Sydney, Australia.

The Society of St. John Chrysostom is an ecumenical organization of Catholic and Orthodox clergy and laity.

Sing-along planned

LIBERTY

A sing-along is planned at 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts Wick Road.

The free event will feature soloist Christylee Roose of Hubbard from 6:30 to 7 followed by the sing-along led by Ernie Cunningham and the praise team.

Church anniversary

VIENNA

Liberty Bible Church, 2111 Sodom-Hutchings Road, will mark its 35th anniversary with events Nov. 17. Services will be at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Children’s classes will be conducted during the services.

Guest speaker will be Jason Perlak, who founded Wilderness Christian Camp in 2003.

Guest guitarist at the morning service will be Adam Hager.
