The Rev. Mark Nelson will be installed as pastor of Austintown Community Evangelical Covenant Church, 242 S. Canfield-Niles Road, during the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday by Garth McGrath, superintendent of the Great Lakes Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Pastor Nelson earned a master of divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary near Boston. He served as an associate pastor at the First Covenant Church of Salina, Kan., for the past seven years.
He previously had spent two years in Budapest, Hungary, teaching English and serving as a missionary. After his return to the United States, he served as a director in a camping ministry in Colorado and Michigan.
He and his wife, Corrie, have four daughters.
A reception will follow the service at the church.

Event at Walsh
Walsh University will host Tony Melendez, Nicaraguan musician and inspirational speaker, at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel.
Melendez was born without arms. He wore prostheses until age 10 when he discarded them and taught himself to play the organ, harmonica and guitar.
He composes contemporary Christian tunes and also has written a best-selling autobiography, “A Gift of Hope.”
This is a free event and open to the public.
A collection to benefit Melen-dez’s ministry will be taken.

Unity Centre for Spiritual Living, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, will host guest speaker, the Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Reed, director of the Shalem Center in Columbus, at the 11 a.m. Nov. 17 service. Her topic will be “Jesus as seen through the Eyes of a Sufi.”
A workshop will be from 1 to 3 p.m. with meditative walks, body prayers, chanting in Aramaic and simple circle dances. All are welcome to the service and workshop. Comfortable clothing is recommended and donations will be accepted for the workshop.

Men of Faith
Men of Faith will meet for breakfast at 8 a.m. Nov. 16 at Dutch Haus Restaurant. The theme will be “Men with a Mission” with speaker Jacob Beera. Music will be Steve Nelson.
