Youngstown parent says principal gave her kid a concussion

Published: Thu, November 7, 2013 @ 2:06 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN

The mother of a city school student told police that the school principal caused her son’s head to strike a hallway wall.

The woman said the boy was hugging another student at school Oct. 28 when the principal forcibly separated them. When he wouldn’t look at the principal, he was pushed back, his head striking the wall, the police report said.

The mother took her son to Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman on Oct. 30 and was told that he has a mild concussion. Superintendent Connie Hathorn said the district is investigating, and the incident was assigned to the police department’s juvenile division, according to the report.

Such a terrible headline. The writer and editor ought to be ashamed. How hard would it have been to use the word "child" instead of "kid"? How rude.
