Ohio honors prison employees’ military service

Ohio’s prisons agency has honored employees returning from active military duty in the past two years.

Nearly 70 Department of Rehabilitation and Correction workers served in the armed services during that time, with deployments including Afghanistan, Europe, Iraq, Japan, South Korea and the U.S.

Guards, caseworkers and nurses were among the employees honored at Tuesday’s ceremony at the prisons training academy in Orient, south of Columbus.

The employees work at 22 of the state’s 28 prisons.
