Lowellville to add two officers

Staff report

The village will swear in two new part-time officers Nov. 13, bringing the police department’s roster to capacity with 15 officers.

“There’s not been 15 [officers] in Lowellville for probably the last 20 years,” said Police Chief Ryan Bonacci.

The two additions to the Lowellville Police Department are Brian McCrea of Poland and Chase Lemke of Austintown.

McCrea also works part time for the Poland Township Police Department and for the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center. He previously worked for the Lisbon Village Police Department.

Lemke works part time for the Youngstown State University Police Department, and previously worked for the Austintown Police Department.

Next week’s swearing-in ceremony will be at Lowellville City Hall, 140 E. Liberty St., and will start at 6:30 p.m.

Two of the department’s officers also will receive awards during the ceremony: Daniel Baker, in recognition of police excellence, and Donald Coppola, in recognition of meritorious service.
