James Reinhard is the full-time city school district treasurer, effective last week.
The school board Monday approved a resolution authorizing a contract for Reinhard who’s been working part time since April 15.
His full-time contract, effective Nov. 1, runs through July 31, 2015. He will earn $70,000 annually.
Board members voted 6-1 in favor of the resolution with member Andrea Mahone casting the dissenting vote.
Before his appointment as part-time treasurer, Reinhard, the retired treasurer of Canton City Schools, had been working as the Youngstown Schools Academic Distress Commission-appointed fiscal monitor in the school district.
He was appointed to that job in December 2012.
Under the contract, the board will pay the employer’s share of any School Employees’ Retirement System contributions as required by law while Reinhard will pay the employee’s share.
The board won’t provide insurance benefits to the treasurer unless he’s ineligible for SERS coverage.
Reinhard will be eligible to accrue and use sick leave, but he won’t be eligible for severance pay for any unused sick leave upon termination or expiration of the contract.
