Man arrested on charge of carrying a concealed weapon, other charges
YOUNGSTOWN —A man with a loaded 9mm handgun struggled with police as they tried to take him custody on a South Side street Monday afternoon.
Officers spotted Delord Green, 20, walking in the roadway at Earle Avenue and Summer Street about 2:25 p.m. in violation of an ordinance that people must use a sidewalk whenever one is available.
Reports said the officers stopped and approached Green with caution because he has been known to carry a gun before and when officers tried to talk to him he ran away, reports said
As Green ran, officers spotted a gun underneath his shirt in his waistband. An officer caught up to Green and tried to tackle him, but he reached towards where the gun was and when he was on the ground he refused to put his hands behind his back, reports said.
Once Green was cuffed officers spotted the gun a few yards away from him, reports said
Green was arrested on the charges of carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is in the Mahoning County jail.
