Church honors its new pastor

Wedgewood Park Evangelical Congregational Church, celebrated pastor appreciation month with a reception Oct. 13 for Pastor Andrew Carr and his wife, Amber.

Pastor Carr was installed June 30 by the Rev. Gary Brown, conference minister of the Evangelical Congregational Church, Myerstown Pa. He replaces Pastor Dave Dennis, who is now serving an EC Church in Narvon, Pa.

Pastor Andrew and the former Amber Fusselman of Uniontown, Ohio, were married Sept. 29 in Akron by his father, the Rev. Dave Carr of Afolkey, Ill.

Pastor Carr earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature with Biblical studies minor from Wheaton College and a master of arts in Biblical literature from Olivet Nazarene University, where he also was an adjunct faculty member. He received his pastor’s license from the Evangelical Congregational Church.

Wedgewood Park is his first full-time assignment. He has served as a pastor, assistant youth pastor, high school Sunday school teacher and Bible quizzing coach at three other churches. He also was involved in Jubilee Prison Ministries in Myerstown and was dean of Rock River Bible Camp in Dixon, Ill.

Sunday worship service is at 10:30 a.m. with an adult Bible study at 9:30. Women’s Bible studies are at 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and men’s Bible study at 7 p.m. Thursdays. Promiseland Ministry for children is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and youth group at 6 p.m. Sundays.
