Warren schools, mayor and police cancel tonight’s Harding game

WARREN

Warren City Schools, in collaboration with Mayor Doug Franklin and the Warren Police Department, have canceled tonight’s football game at Mollenkopf Stadium.

Superintendent Michael Notar said the cancellation is because there has been “a lot of tension throughout the city this week, and we felt for the safety of our students, parents, staff and community this is the right decision.”

School officials say nothing new has happened in the last 24 hours. But this week at Harding saw students having backpacks searched in the aftermath of two recent homicides in the city.

Warren G. Harding was supposed to play a team from Lorain.

I don't know that those crimes should have cancelled the football game. It may have brought people together rooting for their team.
