Boys soccer claims victory

In the biggest game of the season, the Canfield Cardinals took on the Lakeview Bulldogs in the District Final at Hubbard High School Oct. 26. For the past several years Canfield has been knocked out of the tournament by Lakeview, but tonight they came out victorious, winning 2-0 within the last ten minutes. Canfield’s two goals were scored by Jona Ghossain with an assist from Christian Hume, and by Brett Lewis with an assist from Jona Ghossain. The Cardinals dominated the entire game with 17 shots to Lakeviews 10. Canfield’s goalkeeper Jeff Jospeh had nine saves and Lakeviews keeper had seven. The Cardinals will advance to the regional semifinals at Wadsworth High School.

Boys soccer defeats Poland

Playing down a player, the Canfield boys soccer team out scored Poland 2-1 in the district semifinal rivalry Oct. 23. The first goal was scored by Jona Ghossain, Poland scored shortly after tying it up until the last 19 seconds when Canfield’s Frank Phillips gets past the defense and scores ending the game 2-1.
