Politics as usual in Washington

Politics as usual in Washington

Have you been paying at- tention to the politics coming out of Washington lately? It is mind boggling watching the tea party Republicans lead the way in inundating the public with all this Watergate-style politics. If the intent is to demean and discredit the Obama presidency it’s not working.

It’s a fact that this president has significantly affected the way Americans think more so than any other president in modern history. In other words, these years will make the inception of a new epoch; a span of time in which Americans began to think differently in reference to health coverage, immigration practices, gay rights, gun laws and most importantly, how we deal with our friends and foes abroad.

In December of 2009, columnist Joe Klein said that the legacy and success of the Obama presidency would depend on the passage of the health care bill and troop withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan. The president has gone beyond that. His leadership led to the capture and death of Osma bin Laden. 62 percent of the American electorate re-elected him to a second term. And even though the president has influenced the passage of key legislation and demonstrated time and time again that he is presidential, John McCain and the extremists continue to bury their heads in the sand.

Reading Richard Haas’s book, “Foreign Policy Begins at Home, getting your house in order” gives a good picture of what Barack Obama’s vision entails. Obama is not a chump. No one gave him the presidency. He fought for it. He is a champion. It is his vision of America that will set the guidelines for our children.

It is my contention that if President Obama can sidestep the so-called Benghazi and IRS scandals and resist the lure of the John McCain faction calling for our military involvement in the Syrian civil war, it is probable that he will go down in history as one of our greatest presidents since Abraham Lincoln.

Alfred Why should Obama be allowed to sidestep Benghazi and the IRS scandals? Because he's black, is that why? It happen on his watch and he should be held responsible. He got four people killed because of his administration ineptness. If one of them was your relative, would you still feel the same way ? I don't thiink so !! If the GOP had done what the IRS did under Bush's watch I'm sure you would be bellyaching about it too I can only think that you too are black and you don't want anyone picking on your leader. As far as I'm concerned , he should be brought up on charges today. The guy is a pathological LIAR !!!!!!!!

Parlay & Spencer have no idea of what's going on in this country.
Spencer states "if Obama can SIDESTEP the so called Benghazi & IRS scandals."
Benghazi is certainly an Obama scandal. FOUR AMERICANS ARE DEAD.
Once upon a time, America was called the "land of opportunity." It was never called "the land of guaranteed success."
Today it's called "how much will you give me free?"
The Obama proclamation "In order for Americans to become totally emancipated, they must first all become equal slaves to the government."
OH, why bother.

Illinois: Land of the Democrat Dream...

There are more people on welfare in Illinois than there are people working.

Chicago pays the highest wages to teachers than anywhere else in the U.S., averaging $110,000/year.

Their pensions average 80-90% of their income. You can't blame that on Republicans, because they have zero political power.

Wow, are Illinois and Chicago great or what?

Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago:

Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago.

221 killed in Iraq; BTW, Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire US.
Dems, thank you for the combat zone in Chicago.

Here's the Ilinois chain of command:

President Barack Hussein Obama (D)
Senator Dick Durbin (D)
Governor Pat Quinn (D)
House Speaker Mike Madigan (D)
Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike) (D)
Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D)
Chicago City Council, controlled by Democrats
The legislature in Illinois, controlled by Democrats.

Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country. Can't blame Republicans; Dems are in complete control.

State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country. Can't blame Republicans; Dems are in complete control.

Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. Can't blame Republicans; Dems are in complete control.

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he is going to 'fix' Washington politics for us?

But you know what? As long as they keep providing entitlements to the population of Chicago, nothing is going to change, except the state will go broke before the country does.
