Author to sign Log Cabin Stories
Author Kathryn Blystone Watkins will appear at a book signing from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at McDonald’s, 151 state Route 14.
Watkins, a resident of Rogers, will be available to sign copies of her series, “Log Cabin Stories.”

Local writer’s story in ‘Chicken Soup’
“Lend Me Your Ears,” a story by Leavittsburg resident Mary Z. Whitney, has been featured in the new book “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Inspiration for Writers.”
Whitney contributes regularly to the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series, “Guideposts” and “Angels on Earth.”
The book (Chicken Soup for the Soul Publishing, May 21) contains 101 stories by writers who have successfully pursued their dream.
As they document their setbacks and successes, they share tips about how to find inspiration, beat writer’s block, make time to write and find ways to get published.
Lea Michele has book scheduled for release
Lea Michele has stories to share about the many auditions she has passed.
The “Glee” actress has a deal with Harmony Books, a Random House Inc. imprint. Harmony Books announced that “Brunette Ambition” will come out in the spring of 2014.
The publisher is billing the book as a combination memoir, style guide and advice book.
The 26-year-old Michele is best known as the ever-striving Rachel Berry on “Glee.” She also starred in the Broadway production “Spring Awakening” and the film “New Year’s Eve.”
hSinger Nick Carter to release memoir
Nick Carter isn’t only writing songs — he’s written a book.
The Backstreet Boys singer will release a memoir, “Facing the Music and Living to Talk About It,” on Sept. 24 via Bird Street Books. The 33-year-old is the first in the group to release a book.
The autobiography and self-help book will include stories about Carter’s teenage years in the multiplatinum Backstreet Boys, his struggles with substance and alcohol abuse and the hardships of his family. His younger siblings include Aaron and Leslie Carter. Leslie, who battled with substance abuse, died last year.
Carter is engaged to Lauren Kitt. The Backstreet Boys will release their eighth album, “In a World Like This,” on July 30.
Piers Morgan writing book about life at CNN
Piers Morgan is going behind the scenes.
The host of CNN’s “Piers Morgan Live” has a deal with Gallery Books for “Shooting Straight: Guns, Gays, God, and George Clooney.” Gallery, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, announced that the book is scheduled for October.
Morgan, in a statement issued by Gallery, promised a “warts and all” account of life at CNN and said the book would be like “‘The Newsroom’ on steroids,” referring to the HBO series.
According to Gallery, the book will be written in the style of a real-time look into headline stories such as the killing of Osama bin Laden and the school shootings in Newtown, Conn.
