Green out, Morales in as chief of UAW 1714

LORDSTOWN — The smaller of the two unions at the General Motors plant has a new president.

Robert Morales is taking charge of United Auto Workers 1714.

Morales, of Boardman, is a 18-year employee of General Motors, Youngstown native, and is second generation at the plant. His father was among the first group of workers at the plant in 1967.

“He went straight to the plant after he got out of the military,” Morales said.

Morales will take the place of Dave Green. Morales will be formally sworn in on Tuesday.
