Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, open exercise at 8 a.m., blood pressure checks at 9:30, bingo at 10, painting class at 10:15 and OSHIP social worker at 11:30; Tuesday, open exercise at 8 a.m., Vets Helping Vets and bingo at 10, bridge club at 10:30, line dancing at 11 and car show at 6 p.m.; Wednesday, open exercise at 8 a.m., bingo at 10, pizza party ($3) at noon and movie matinee, “Hotel Transylvania,” at 12:30 p.m.; Thursday, open exercise at 8 a.m., wood carving and trip to Stan Hywet Hall at 9 a.m., yoga at 9:15, SOS at 9:30, beginner crochet at 11 and A La Cart dinner and bingo at 5 p.m.; and Friday, open exercise at 8 a.m. and bingo and discussion group at 10. Champion S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 445 Mahoning Ave., Champion, has planned the following: Monday, breakfast at 10:30 a.m. ($5 for members and $6.50 for nonmembers) with Garvin McCorkle speaking on nutrition; Tuesday-Friday, lunch ($3) at 11:15 a.m.; May 29, Brenda Cook will do blood work and finger sticks; and June 5, bus trip to Mountaineer. Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., has planned the following: Monday, morning stretch at 9:30 a.m. and knitting and crocheting and computer tutoring at 10; Tuesday, exercise with Jude at 9:30 a.m. and nutrition/healthy living at 10:30; Wednesday, morning stretch class at 9:30 a.m., health screenings from 10 a.m. to noon, computer tutoring at 10 and yoga from 3 to 4 p.m.; Thursday, exercise with Jude at 9:30 a.m. and yoga from 10:15 to 11:15 ; and Friday, morning stretch class at 9:30 a.m., computer tutoring at 10 and tai chi from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday: Coffee bar from 8:30 to 11 a.m., fitness rooms and computer cafe from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., adult basketball and cornhole from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and meal program/Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs at 2:30 p.m. Wii gaming system, air hockey, and pingpong also are available. Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers to receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home. Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., has planned the following: June 5, annual card and bingo party from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per person and includes lunch. Square tables for four or round tables for up to 8 are available. Reservations are required. July 25, shopping day at Hartville, includes lunch and all tax and gratuities at the Hartville Kitchen. The itinerary will allow for shopping at Hartville Collectibles, the new Hartville Hardware and the Indoor/Outdoor Flea Market. Also included is a free 6-inch pie from the Hartville Kitchen Bakery and a free snack at the Hartford Flea Market Snack Shop. The bus will leave Niles at 8:30 a.m. and return at approximately 4:30 p.m. The cost is $55. Reservations are required by June 14. Payment in full is due two weeks before the event. Shepherd of the Valley is inviting mature drivers age 60 or older to sign up for the AAA Safe Driving for Mature Operators Course. The state-certified course can qualify participants for auto insurance discounts. Registration is required. The cost is $10 for AAA members and $15 for nonmembers. Lunch is available at an additional cost. Market St., has planned the following: Monday, lunch ($2-$3.50) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by Dave Gatesman of Gatesman Financial speaking on Social Security benefits, estate planning and retirement living; and June 3, lunch ($2-$3.50) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by Linda Tominey, diabetes RN director for Trumbull Memorial Hospital talking about living healthy with diabetes.
