Third-grade students at Dobbins Elementary School presented the annual living Wax Museum event May 10. The students work on various parts of this presentation throughout the school year, including lessons in history, biography, reading, public speaking, writing in both the first- and third-person and using complete sentences.

Students first learn about the wax museum in second-grade and many of them begin considering their projects before the next school year has begun.

“The students really look forward to this event every year and they do such a fantastic job of taking on the role of a famous individual,” said Dobbins principal Cheryl Borovitcky. “Each year, I can not wait to see the results of this third-grade project and to hear the speeches the students have prepared.”

As part of the project, students put on costumes to portray their famous individual and gave a speech, when prompted, on their lives and the things they have achieved to date. Famous personalities at the event included Albert Einstein, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Sacagawea, George Lucas, J.K. Rowling, Beverly Cleary, Shirley Temple, Lucille Ball and more.
