YOUNGSTOWN — The proposed merger of Mahoning County Children Services with the county’s Department of Job and Family Services will be the main topic of discussion when the county commissioners attend a special meeting of the county Children Services Board at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be in CSB offices at 222 W. Federal St., the child welfare agency announced today.
The county commissioners unanimously declared last week their intention to designate JFS as the county’s public children services agency, but they did not take final action on the merger of the child welfare agency with JFS or set a date for the merger.
The current 13-member children services governing board likely would be replaced with a five-member advisory board, said Carol Rimedio-Righetti, chairwoman of the three-member board of county commissioners.
