Lockwood United Methodist Church, 4570 Lockwood Blvd., Boardman, will serve a free community dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today. It consists of chicken-macaroni bake, glazed carrots, salad, bread, dessert and beverage.


Woodworth Church of the Brethren, 30 E. Western Reserve Road, Poland, will serve a takeout beef tips and noodles dinner from 2:30 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. Cost is $7. Menu consists of sirloin angus beef tips, noodles, mixed vegetables, roll and cookie. Drive up to the back door and place your order. It will be delivered to your car. Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $5 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. A limited supply of frozen pirogi will be available. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available. This is the final sale of the season.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided. Last day of sales for the season will be May 24; sales resume after Labor Day.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday or 9:30 to 11 Friday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be available at 11 a.m.

Lowellville Rod and Gun Club, 6225 Quarry Road, will have a carryout fish fry from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $8 until 1:30 and $15 after 1:30.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Cost is $6 per dozen. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday; no containers are necessary. Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome. Final sale of the season will be May 24.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. The cost is $5.50 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-in orders are welcome. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

VFW Post 9571, 11397 Ellsworth Road, Ellsworth, will have an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Also available will be four-piece chicken, chicken fingers or shrimp with french fries or macaroni and cheese. The cost is $8 for adults and $7.50 for seniors.


Calvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road, Youngstown, will serve a spaghetti and meatball dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children. The menu includes Italian bread, salad, coffee, lemonade, orange drink, hot tea and water. There also will be a $100 gas card drawing.

Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., will have its annual Kentucky Mountain Dinner from 4:30 to 6:30. The cost is $8.50 for adults and $5.50 for children 3 to 12. On the menu are sweet-potato casserole, honey-baked ham, corn bread, green beans, creamed chicken over homemade biscuits, cobbler or brown derby pie. Historic Lutheran Church of St. John, 1429 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, adjacent to Fellows Riverside Gardens, will serve all-you-can-eat pasta dinners from noon until the food runs out in the Colonial Hall. The meal consists of pasta and Italian sauce, meatballs, tossed salad, Italian bread, beverage and dessert. The donation is $6.95 for adults and free for children up to 5. North Beaver Volunteer Fire Dept., 969 New Castle Road, Mount Jackson, Pa., will sponsor an ox roast dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets cost $11 for adults and $6 for children 5 to 12. Dinner includes potatoes, vegetable, dessert and beverages. Takeouts will be available.

VFW Post 2799, 3161 E South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve a homestyle breakfast sponsored by the ladies auxiliary from 8 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. The menu consists of eggs, hash browns, sausage or ham, pancakes or freedom toast, toast and coffee or tea.


First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Church Hill Road, is taking orders for 15-inch homemade pepperoni rolls for $7 each, potato soup and chicken noodle soup for $5 per quart and $3 per pint, and fresh-baked bread for $1.50 a loaf. Order by calling 330-647-7515 by Thursday. Pickup is available at the church between 3 and 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Simon Road Church of God, 4750 Simon Road, Boardman, is taking orders for either nut or apricot kolachi. Cost is $9 each. Call 330-758-5108 by the May 26 deadline. Pickup will be from 2 to 3 p.m. June 1.
