Trustees to meet
Youngstown State University trustees are to meet this afternoon and may select the next president. That meeting is set for 3 p.m. in Tod Hall on campus.
Meanwhile, one of the three finalists for the YSU job, Randy Dunn, president of Murray State University in Murray, Ky., also is one of four finalists for president of Illinois State University.
The Illinois State board is to meet at 9 a.m. today and is expected to choose its next president.
The other two finalists for the YSU job are James Moran III, vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at the Pennsylvania System of Higher Education, and William Decatur, executive vice president for finance and administration, chief financial officer and treasurer at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence.
Spring plant sale
Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens’ Plant Sale continues today and Saturday at the gardens, 123 McKinley Ave., off Mahoning Avenue near downtown.
The sale is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Friends members receive a 10 percent discount both days. Profits from the sale support the gardens. For information, call 330-740-7116.
Lane restrictions will be in place for state Route 11 under U.S. Route 224 from 8 a.m. to noon today for bridge repairs.
The Out-spokin’ Wheelmen, an area cycling club, has donated 24 tricycles to four women’s charities.
The club gave bikes to the Beatitude House, Someplace Safe, Christina’s House and Potter’s Wheel women’s shelters and program centers during a ceremony Wednesday night at Clear Channel Auditorium in Boardman.
John Nagy, vice president of the Out-spokin’ Wheelmen, said Frankford Cycles in Girard and Thumm’s Bike Shop in Warren helped purchase the bikes. Nagy said the donation was in observance of National Bike month.
All public libraries in Mahoning County will be closed Sunday for Mother’s Day.
The Southeast Side Community Association is seeking volunteers to help with its Southeast Side Community Cleanup effort from 9 a.m. to noon today and Saturday.
Volunteers meet today at the intersection of Thomas Road and Burton Street and Saturday at the intersection of Hazelwood Avenue and Colonial Street.
New office hours
Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission, 345 Oak Hill Ave., Building A., has new office hours, effective Monday. The office will be open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. and closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
