The annual Stadium Drive Ice Cream Social took place at Boardman High School April 26 with ice cream, music, games, such as “Minute to Win It,” a hula hoop contest, face painting, raffles and more.

“A lot of work goes into making this event a success every year,” said Erin Salvga, the PTA chair for the event. “There are so many teacher-volunteers and parent-volunteers, as well as members from the high school Key Club who volunteered to man the games and high school art students, who volunteered to paint faces. We are glad that everyone wants to come support it every year.”

The PTA had help from many local businesses that donated gift cards for raffles and prizes. The Dairy Queen in North Lima has given the PTA a discount on ice cream since the beginning of the social.

“This is our largest event of the year and there is always a pretty big turnout,” said Debbi Beeman, the Stadium Drive PTA president. “The kids really look forward to it every year. It is just a great event and a really fun day for both parents and students.”

All of the profits from the Ice Cream Social go back into the school for future events.
