SALEM

The Salem Historical Society Museum, 208 S. Broadway Ave., will open for the season Sunday and will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. each Sunday through Oct. 27.

In honor of Mother’s Day, mothers will be admitted free this Sunday when accompanied by a family member. The last tour of the day will begin at 3:30 p.m.

The museum complex now boasts exhibits in more than 20 rooms in three buildings, plus the Dale Shaffer Research Library, which was completed last year.

The featured exhibits include the Civil War, barbering, schools, the Victorian Era, medical, anti-slavery, fire and safety, coal mining and period clothing.

The gift shop, with a variety of historical items, will be open during museum hours.
