Youngstown fire damages neighboring South Side home

Staff Report

A vacant house fire damaged a nearby home Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a fire in the 300 block of East Lucius Avenue at 5:42 p.m.

Battalion Chief Jimmy Drummond said the vacant home was engulfed when crews arrived, and the wind had caused the neighboring house to catch fire as well.

The homeowner and her three children were not there at the time, Drummond said.

The vacant home was a complete loss but the neighboring house had broken windows and damaged siding.

No one was seriously hurt.
