Nicole and Richard Pearsall were honored with a Distinguished Alumni Award at La Roche College’s recent 50th anniversary celebration. The couple owns a successful veterinary clinic in West Middlesex, Pa., where they also live. Nicole and Richard are among the first to be honored with this inaugural award because they have achieved outstanding professional success after having built a practice to include more than 2,500 clients in three years.
The Dairy Queen at 6120 Market St. in Youngstown recently received a PRIDE Award from the DQ system for achieving a high level of cleanliness and food safety. The award is given out once a year to those stores that demonstrate “personal responsibility in delivering excellence.” Every restaurant that meets those standards receives the award.
The Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2013 Phoenix Award recipients, which recognizes excellence in business.The recipients and their categories for the ninth annual Phoenix Awards are: New Business Startup, Montana’s Rib & Chop House; Entrepreneur, Manning Construction Company; Innovation, Joy Cone Company; Growth, Small Manufacturing, Wheatland Steel Processing; Growth Large Manufacturing, JMC Steel Group; Growth Small Service, Philadelphia Candies; Nonprofit Organization, Strimbu Memorial Fund; Service Organization, Kiwanis Club of Hermitage; and Beautification, McGonigle Ambulance Service. The award ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. May 16 at the Corinthian, 47 Vine Ave., Sharon, Pa. Cost to attend the event is $35. For the 15th-consecutive year, FirstEnergy, on behalf of its 10 utility companies, has been recognized as a Tree Line USA utility by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters. The award recognizes investor-owned and public utility companies that promote dual goals of dependable utility service and healthy trees along America’s streets and highways.
