Austintown native Bruce Shepas announced his plans to run for Austintown trustee at a dinner April 20 at the St. Joseph Church in Austintown.

“I decided to run because I wanted to help Austintown. I believe in Austintown,” said Shepas. “I believe Austintown is moving in the right direction and I want to be a part of that growth and I want to see the community grow and succeed.”

In addition to being a lifelong resident of Austintown, Shepas has spent his life serving the community in law enforcement.

He served as Reserve Deputy Sheriff for five years, was a Lieutenant at the Corrections Corporation of America for three years and he has been employed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons since 2000. Shepas is also co-owner of Austintown Bounce.

“His honesty, integrity and business experience make Bruce Shepas a great candidate for the position of Austintown trustee,” said Dave McGeary. “You know, anyone can do those things when everyone is looking, but it’s what you do when no one is looking that really matters and that kind of stuff is what Bruce is all about.”

Among other things if elected, Shepas plans on doing more with the parks in Austintown for families to enjoy.

“We need more family events in parks so families can really spend time outside in parks,” said Shepas.
