Bus trips to historic homes in 2 cities
The Sutliff Museum will sponsor one-day bus trips to elegant homes in Erie, Pa., on May 22; and East Liverpool on June 6. The bus for both trips will leave from the parking lot of Walmart on Millennium Boulevard in Cortland.
The Erie trip will include stops at the Cashier’s House, an 1839 house between the Erie County Art Museum and the Erie County Historical Society Museum; several museums; and Erie’s Millionaires Row, including the Watson-Curtze Mansion. Lunch will be at an Erie restaurant. The bus will leave at 8 a.m. and be back at 6 p.m.
The East Liverpool trip includes stops at the Museum of Ceramics; the C.C. Thompson House; and the Hall Closet, a retail outlet of Hall China Co. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. and return by 5 p.m. A box lunch prepared by an East Liverpool restaurant will be served for $9.20.
The cost of each trip is $47, which includes transportation, insurance, snacks and bottled water, admission fees, guides and information on the history and Victorian styles of the sites.
The deadline for registration is May 12 for the Erie trip, and May 28 for the East Liverpool trip. Many of the buildings are not handicapped accessible.
