211 emergency training offered May 10 in Mercer

Published: Wed, May 1, 2013 @ 3:18 a.m.

MERCER, PA.

The United Way of Mercer County and Grove City Area United Way have teamed up to provide 211 training to other areas.

Of the 400,000 calls that Mercer County 911 received last year, only 200,000 were genuine emergencies, meaning the other callers needing assistance with nonemergency matters could have received help through the new 211 service in Mercer County.

The training is May 10 in the Mercer County Career Center, 776 Greenville Road.

Mercer County service providers and nonprofit agencies are urged to attend the training.

To reserve training spots, attendees should specify 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 to 3 p.m. classes and fax their names and organizations to 724-981-4838 on or before Thursday.
