Coach’s outlook: We have a lot of guys who can throw strikes and a solid defense behind them. With the depth of our pitching we will have a chance to compete in both league contests and non-league games. We are young and there are a lot of new faces. How they react will also determine our success.

Coach’s outlook: Only seven players return, including just two starters. The lack of experience will provide opportunity for young players. Daily improvement is needed to become more competitive. Strengths are enthusiasm, willingness to learn and team speed.

Coach’s outlook: We will be very young and inexperienced with just five players back from last year. It may take time to jell as a team. The key to the season is starting pitching.


Coach: Sean Durkin, 16th season, 256-142 career record.

2012: 21-8, regional runner-up.

Projected starters: Sam Donko, P/1B, senior (7-3, 1.23 ERA, 105 Ks in 2012); Matt Lacko, C, senior; Anthony Rohan, CF, senior; Ryan Strollo, SS, senikor; Harrison Finelli, 3B/P, senior; Vinnie Boerio, OF, senior; Steve Balas, OF/DH, senor; Joel Hake, 2B/P, sophomore; Michael Montalbano, OF/DH, junior; Tannor Berry, OF, junior; Dion Felger, 1B/P, junior.

Coach’s outlook: The Irish lose just one everyday starters and feature plenty of varsity and tournament experience, plus good pitching depth.


Coach: Shawn Alazaus, 30-26 in 2 years at West Branch, 150-113 career record.

2012: 17-12, 8-6 in Northeastern Buckeye Conference.

Projected starters: Brenden Wells, OF, senior; Beau Taylor, IF/P, senior; Jeff Vizzuso, P/OF, junior; Jacob Clayton, IF/P, junior; Ryan Adams, UTIL, junior; Kip DeShields, IF/P, sophomore; Jake Smith, C, sophomore; Chipper tuel, UTIL/P, sophomore; Nate Coy, UTIL/P, sophomore.

Coach’s outlook: The Warriors return seven starters from 2012. If we continue to work hard on a daily basis and improve our defense we should be successful. Somewhat of a young squad, West Branch must improve its mental approach and toughness. The Warriors are a talented group with good baseball skills and have a solid group of young pitchers.


Coach: Greg Finnegan, 144-105 career record in 16 years.

2012: Played JV schedule only.

Coach’s outlook: Strengths are enthusiasm, speed and the catcher position. The Eagles are a mostly young team returning after a two-year varsity lapse.
