SJIHM students trade pennies for pasta

This year, St. Joseph Immaculate Heart of Mary students donated their spare change for three weeks in February and raised $787.35 for Olive Garden’s Pasta for Pennies.
Olive Garden’s Pasta for Pennies program is a national fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s mission is: “Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and families.“
St. Joseph Immaculate Heart of Mary School students have participated in the Pasta for Pennies fundraiser since 2002. Each year, the top fundraising classroom receives a pasta lunch from Olive Garden.
This year, Miss Machuga’s second-grade class was the top classroom and enjoyed a pasta party on March 14, provided by the Olive Garden in Boardman.
SJIHM students have raised a total of $18,104.14 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society since they began participating in Pasta for Pennies.
